A loud boom and flash of light were captured on a Hopatcong residents nest cam just before 2AM on Tuesday. Several residents called police to report they heard what sounded like an explosion. Officers checked several places around the borough and found no evidence of an explosion. Picatinny Arsenal and a local quarry were not blasting anything either. Police Chief Mike O'Shea speculated to the Daily Voice: "One might assume that the light and sound might be related to the meteor shower." In particular the Aurigid Meteor Shower peaks in late August.
