I really needed a break for a few days. This time of year it's really tough to get away from the radio station for a day or two. We made it happen. My weekend started at Space Farms Junior Zookeeper's Day. The weather was perfect and there was a great turnout. I helped Parker Space with the snake lecture. Every year I do this Parker promises to make my job a little more challenging. This year he did not disappoint me. I held 4 snakes at one time. One picture tells the story! On Sunday I spent all day mowing grass, taking care of the pool and packing for my trip to Asbury Park. I left early Monday morning to meet my friend Rich from my college days. We have been good friends for all these years. We went to the Silver Ball Museum and Arcade on the Boardwalk. This is where you can play arcade games and pinball machines that are over 60 years old. Rich and I had quite an intense game of table hockey, People actually stopped to watch us. I played a baseball arcade game that I remember from Palisades Park. It was great fun. Then we moved to the beach. Monday's weather was perfect. I didn't want to get out of the water. Then it was dinner at a great Jersey Shore Diner. Rich went home after that. I stayed overnight at a hotel because I planned to see another lifelong friend the next day. On Tuesday I left the hotel and drove about 25 minutes away to Marlboro to see my friend Dan. Dan graduated North Bergen High School with me in 1979 and then we went to Seton Hall University together too. We commuted together for a couple of years. Then we lost touch. Dan went to Wall Street and I came here to Sussex County. We always thought the world of each other. Seeing him again, catching up and meeting his wife was just wonderful. When I moved to Sussex County many years ago I left behind many wonderful friends. Thanks to our high school reunion I reconnected with Dan. We went out to a great Prime Rib Restaurant for lunch. Then Dan gave me a brief tour of the area which included the home of Garret Hobart a Vice President of the United State under William McKinley and Matawan Creek where the shark attacks that inspired "Jaws" took place in 1916. I hope you enjoy the pictures below.
