LJ Koch owns Luc's on Greenwood Lake. He collects vintage vehicles. Several years ago he purchased a 1952 International Metro Van as a restoration project. Soon after Koch saw totaled 2021 Corvette Stingray at a junk yard for sale on line. He bought it. Then along with several friends from West Milford Tire. They somehow came up with the idea to put the Stingray's engine in the 1952 van to build the world's fastest food truck. It took two years and 25 volunteers to finish.
Now called "The Vettro" their creation made it's debut at Pocono Raceway a few weeks ago. Hitting the racetrack at a speed of 126 miles per hour. The world record is 135 miles per hour. Koch hopes with a few improvements mostly related to aerodynamics they'll be ready to go for the world record.
In the meantime, "The Vettro" will be at the Indy 500 this weekend to "fire up the crowd."
