Every year 1023 WSUS and the Center for Prevention team up to help prevent under age drinking. Kids from area Middle Schools and High Schools are educated about the dangers of under age drinking by The Center for Prevention. Then all of the kids are invited to write an essay in the form of a 30 second radio Public Service Announcement. The winners of the contest come to 1023 WSUS to record their public service announcements with me in our production studio. These PSA's get on the air on WSUS and our sister stations WNNJ and WHCY in April. Which is Alcohol Awareness Month across the country. This year more than 190 kids in Sussex County wrote essays. It's great that so many young people were inspired enough to participate. Even better is the work of the people at Center for Prevention. Who tirelessly work to prevent all kinds of substance abuse right here in Sussex County. Under age drinking is dangerous and unhealthy. It's very important all young people in Sussex County get that message. Congratulations to this year's winners. You'll be hearing all of their PSA's on our radio stations very soon.
