It’s time for another edition of “What The Dumb Of The Day!” — where common sense takes the day off and apparently moves into the garage.
Police in Utah arrested a husband and wife after they decided to parent their 11-year-old child with what can only be described as the world’s worst HGTV show… “Extreme Home Makeover: Homeless Edition.”
According to police, the parents locked the child in an unheated garage overnight to “teach them how to be homeless.” Because apparently grounding your kid, taking away the Xbox, or making them listen to Nickelback on repeat just wasn’t enough.
When officers showed up, they found the child sleeping under a truck bed cover with a thin blanket, a knee pad for a pillow, and a bucket toilet setup that sounds less like parenting and more like a failed camping trip sponsored by Walmart clearance items.
And get this — dad reportedly admitted he did it because the child threatened to run away. Which is an interesting strategy… because nothing says “please stay home” quite like turning your garage into a low-budget prison yard.
The parents are now facing aggravated child abuse charges and being held without bail — proving once again that some adults should come with the same warning label as fireworks: “Not intended for unsupervised use.”
