My Epic Weekend In Pictures: My 1st Movie in years!

This was definitely a fun summer weekend in New Jersey with many memories that will be lasting me a lifetime! Friday night I had a great time with some besties at Minerals Tiki Moonshine bar. It was great catching up with friends, laughing, and taking in a gorgeous Jersey sunset. I loved getting to hang with besties Jasen and Brendan, Bryon, Brad, and several others. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, once we did get there it was all smiles. It took me a few minutes to get a parking lot, because so much was happening at the same time. Minerals Resort was hosting a massive dancing competition, and had a wedding Friday night too. Once I was able to park, it was time to relax and laugh with friends. Friday night after a fun time with friends, I went home and watched The Netflix series "Quarterback." I absolutely loved this behind the scenes special. This is always fun to watch and for me is like a backstage pass where you see what their lives are like behind the scenes. Kirk Cousins for Atlanta Falcons, Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions, and Joe Burrow with The Cincinnati Bengals. Each three of these guys are in very different, competitive situations. At the end of the day though, they're all going for the same exact goal, trying to win The Super Bowl. It was great seeing how their lives work off of the field. I'm a huge nerd for stuff like this. This Peyton Manning produced series is so much fun to watch. I hope they bring it back next year too. I also love how Netflix does a great job of not just going back and forth between each different quarterback season, they also tell you when the dates are happening. It's much easier to follow when Netflix shows you that it's week 1 in the National Football League season, etc. It's fun getting to watch what everything looks and sounds like behind the scenes after I watched everything live as it happened in real time last year.

Saturday morning I was starting to tackle some errands, when the F1 movie with Brad Pitt kept popping up on my social media feeds nonstop. At that point, I thought if I can't beat them, might as well join them. One of my besties Jennifer is a diehard F1 fan. Her driving styles tend to support her F1 fandom as well. She claims I drive slow. She always drives when we are together because she can't stand how slow I drive, according to her. We just basically agree to disagree on our driving styles. I texted her and asked if she was available Sunday to see the F1 movie. She said she could be available. I hopped on my phone and bought tickets online for a Sunday 12:45pm showing of F1 in Middletown, New York. She couldn't believe I did it that quickly and demanded that I send her screenshots for proof. I told her it was a late birthday present, me taking her to the F1 movie. I also told her that this better put me in heaven someday, LOL.

Saturday afternoon I made a fun trip to Hackettstown. My friend Brooks had her parents visiting from Syracuse, and we came up with a fun plan to give them roast beef sandwiches from Savioli's Raviolis right here in Franklin, New Jersey. Even though their name is Raviolis, their roast beef is easily the best around here in these parts. I was so excited, just to make sure they didn't run out, I went there on Friday to place my order in advance. The second I walked in the door Saturday they all made me feel like royalty. They all said to each other "it's Steve Allan the radio guy. Let's get his roast beef sandwiches now!" I was able to get 4 roast beef sandwiches, one for Brooks, one for her Mom Terry, her Dad Joe, and me. Success! They were impressed and agreed that these are the best roast beef sandwiches around for sure!

Saturday I had a great time in Hackettstown getting to see my friend Brooks and her parents. They were so sweet and thankful for the lunch I brought them. Talk about easy and low maintenance! I was then able to run into besties Shawn and Maria at Crystal Springs Vista 180 Pool, my Heaven on Earth Happy Place. Unfortunately I was getting there just as they were getting ready to leave. The weather had become cloudy, but I didn't care. I heard from Madre earlier in the day that back home my Uncle Leisure Paul took a little bit of a fall tripping over their cat. I called my Aunty Donna and Uncle Paul to check in our patient. I'm happy to say that he's doing great. I was able to send them a picture of Crystal Springs which they both agreed was absolutely beautiful despite the cloudy weather.

Sunday I didn't sleep great, which does happen from time to time. All good. I was able to be ready in plenty of time for my matinee movie date with bestie Jennifer. She still couldn't believe I was taking her to the F1 movie. I'm definitely not much of a movie buff at all, that's for sure. We knew this was my first time actually going to a movie in a movie theater in at least 6 years. Turns out, the last movie I saw in theaters was American Sniper. I just looked online, apparently I saw that movie TEN years ago. Wow. Maybe I should start getting out a little more. The seats at Middletown movie theater reclined and were very comfortable. I definitely made an @$$ of myself by spilling some of my popcorn the second we sat down. I definitely looked like the new guy there, or which one of these doesn't belong.

I would say overall that the F1 movie was decent. Not great, not bad, simply decent. I definitely respect how hard everyone worked on the movie. Brad Pitt alone spent months training on how to be an F1 Driver to make this as legit as possible. I can't lie and say that there's a huge rush push for me to go back into a movie theater. It would probably take a new Batman movie or a comedy that will make me laugh my caboose off. I'm excited that Happy Gilmore 2 is coming out next weekend. I'm even more excited that it's coming out on Netflix, so there's no need to even leave my couch! Success.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Time to start planning next weekend!
